This whisky matures in the finest casks of Mizunara oak. Pioneering research by Kaiyo into the effects of wood selection on whisky maturation has led to the creation of tailor-made barrels, crafted from slow growth, air-seasoned wood from hand-picked trees. These casks are handmade due to the delicate wood grain of the Mizunara oaks. For several years, this spirit has been gently matured in the conventional style before embarking on its special sea voyage.
